Rotary Club of East Cobb

❤️ We’re in the process of compiling a fun & short video to post later that shows more of the process of how East Cobb Robotics, working as a part of Interact FIRST Alliance, developed “Chairibot” (the wheelchair they presented yesterday) to perfectly suit its new little owner!!!🥰

But in the interim, here is a quick “highlight reel” of yesterday!

Rated “T” for grab a tissue!!!! ❤️😊

Today is a really special day. Today some of our Club members get to witness the East Cobb Robotics Team share the fruits of their labor with a really deserving and wonderful little kid and his awesome family! The Rotary Club of East Cobb will be present because we sponsored East Cobb Robotics to be an Interact Club and also awarded them a grant last year from our Dog Days race. So we are excited to see the Team we have partnered with just out in the world doing Great Things!

If you gave our “Spoke’n Wheel” Episode 1 podcast a “listen to”, then you heard Lisa Hatch, Executive Director of East Cobb Robotics, share details about this wheelchair- this is the custom made one that the Team had been busy working on, along with making preparations for their upcoming competitions.

They call the chair “Chairibot” and it is a beautiful looking chair that was designed specifically for the little boy who is receiving it today. It has all sorts of bells and whistles and ergonomic details and safety features AND can grow WITH the boy. I believe the team thought of everything!!! It probably even has a flux capacitor for time travel!😊

But all kidding aside, the idea of how many vistas will open wide for the little one now with Chairibot as his “trusty steed” influenced the sketch you see below. (I’m trying to distract myself with cheeky doodles because I’m sure each of us witnessing the youngster and his family receive Chairibot today at 12:30 will require no less than 2 boxes of Kleenex apiece!)

I will be sure to post pics after 🤧😭🤗😊🤖

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Presidents Day 2020 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Fun Fact: The day we are observing today - Presidents Day - originally was started in observance of George Washington’s Birthday. But if you were to go back in time to wish him Happy Birthday on February 17th, you’d still have to adjust your time machine... because you’d be 5 days early! 🤔 That’s because Washington’s birthday was REALLY February 22nd.

Because of the Uniform Federal Holidays Act of 1971, the observance of this day can occur any day from Feb 15 to Feb 21!

Also - trivia question for you -
How many U.S. Presidents are/have been Rotarians?

Comment below if you think you know! 🥰
